Verified ReviewerResolved: Burnt Black Cashews
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology.
Recently Ive noticed the quality of cashews decline. Very disappointed in a recent purchase of cashews I bought. The container had not just one or two burnt nuts but over a handful. Burnt so badly my dog wouldnt even eat them.
It seems that quality control has declined as the price skyrocketed into the stratosphere.
Im very disappointed in the recent purchase of Planters Cashews which are more expensive than other brands. I dumped the contents out to see how many more were of this disgusting burnt color.
And was a little shocked at the amount of burnt nuts. What has happened to Planters after Hormel bought them?

- Was the gold standard of nuts
- Within a year quality has gone downhill
Preferred solution: Full refund
Why do they taste so bad?
I recently bought a container of Planters Deluxe with cashews, almonds and pecans. I was excited because those are my favorite nuts and I thought it would less waste since I don't care for some of the other nuts included in the typical mixed nuts.
These nuts taste horrible! I don't even know how to describe the taste except to say there's a very strange after taste and I couldn't eat them. The container sat on the counter for a bit. And, I tried them again thinking maybe my taste was off the first time I tried them.
No, they were still disgusting! So, I threw the whole container away.
I'm done with planters. Expensive and they taste like crap!

CASHEWS(crap)
Hormel Foods. April 28, 2023
Planters.com
Dear Sirs,
Having been a frequent lifetime consumer of PLANTERS products, I was SHOCKED when I recently picked up a 24 count Variety Pack for a trip.
I'm a cashews lover, and yes (after 40 years in the biggest food & candy production companies) I do fully understand product grading, quality control, AND scrap recovery/salvage.
Now having opened three of the cashew packs, it is obvious that PLANTERS is losing its grip on BRAND and product integrity.
The contents, consistent in all three, were atrocious. Few "wholes", mostly small pieces, and enough grinds and belt dust to make package weight. It appears that your production standards have been adapted to the HORMAL protocols for making sausage. In other words "(s)crap".
I know the economics of food, and the temptation to trade market share for profit (a slippery slope).
I also recognize the marketing trick of slicker packaging graphics, which DO NOT depict actual degraded ingredient contents, rather than sustain quality. All sleazy concessions on the way to brand collapse. (BTW, last company was MARS. Inc.)
So, I guess it's NO BIG DEAL to PLANTERS.
One more disappointed consumer lost is "just peanuts", perhaps. But, with my background, it bothers me how another once powerful brand surrenders it market stature so readilly. Sad...
Have a nice day.
Regards,
Bill Horan

I agree - Planters used to mean quality - but few whole peanuts and all of them itty-bitty! The store brand cheaper nuts looked better than these.
