Packaging looks good, but there is a larger than peanut glop of something sealed in the bag. Not sure what it is, but definitely not eating it. It does not appear to be edible.

This morning I opened a fresh can of cashews (I keep hoping your quality control is improving) No such luck ....rotten shrivelled looking nuts ...I even have a mouldy taste in my mouth after eating a few :( Never again Planters ...Im finally done with you ! Im glad I finally woke up with the Christmas season coming up ...I would be embarrassed to serve these to my guests Cry

Dissatisfaction

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I recently purchased a 10.3 oz. can of Planters mixed nuts. I have eaten a few cashews and about 8-10 hazelnuts. The rest is peanuts and some almonds and the can is still over 3/4 full. I grew up eating Planter's cocktail peanuts but paying almost seven dollars for a 10 oz. can of peanuts is kind of a rip off considering I also bought a 16 oz. can of cocktail peanuts for under four dollars. I realize the label says LESS than 50% peanuts but this can is about 80%. very disappointed in Planters, I never complained about the higher priced product they were worth it and the flavor is great but this is just way to expensive for me.

Complaint

I have been buying planters peanuts for years now but the past few times they have had a terrible taste, dry, and a lot of nuts in the bag looked like they were ready to expire. Bought three 600 gram bags for Christmas and I could not put them out because of the bad taste not impressed at all.

Nothing has been done to resolved with this issue. It isn’t a good policy for a big corporation like planters to not stand behind their products.

The dry roasted peanuts are horrible now. They used to be my favorite

It seems like in the last year, every container of Planters Dry Roasted Peanuts at different locations are really disappointing- they don’t taste like they used to— they don’t have the salty shell—they have no taste and sometimes seem rancid— and almost taste like pencil lead smells....just like the generic ones taste like. What’s going on?

Was there a change in the processing or addition of certain components? — I’ve gotten to the point that I will no longer purchase these peanuts. Has there been a change in how these are made? If so, why?

Is it some sort of regulation or is it a Company choice to do so? If so, then why?

Spot on! Planters dry roasted has been my snack of choice for 45 years - quality has been sliding since 2000 and is in a free fall for the last year.

Still better than private label but when the A product is now c- , the c product becomes horrible. I realize it is sill to make the analogy based on a snack food - but this totally represent the decline of quality in america in the need for increasing profit.

I agree

Hello Pissed Customer, I have had the same experience since the emergence of COVID-19. I use to buy 4 three pound containers of the mixed nuts per month for the last 10 years, but no longer.

The Planters’s nuts taste and smell horrible. The Food and Drug Administration should investigate this issue for safety concerns.

The commemts concerning the disgusting decline of flavor that Planters Dry Roasted Peanuts have now suffered over the past 10 or so years are 100% true and I share the opinion. I only wish “someone” would hold the company accountable and either fix the product or point the way to a new company that can.

Guest

I agree. I don’t like the new formulation at all

Guest

I noticed a change for the worse, too. After two years, I purchased another canister.

The smell was off, the appearance was overcooked and greasy, the taste was bland, and the aftertaste was bitter. I consumed about 3 oz and experienced indigestion within 30 minutes.

Planters used to my go to dry roasted peanut wit a salty kind of sweet shell . They definitely went down the drain and did the cheapen up the last 5 jars were terrible. What a bummer!

Guest

I go out of my way to buy Fisher dry roasted peanuts. They taste like Planters used to. Planters are so bad now, I wouldn't feed them to a pen of hogs.

Just purchased 16 oz. Planters Honey Dry Roasted Peanuts.

I haven’t had them for at least a couple of years. They are totally unrecognizable to what I remember. They aren’t sweet. Hardly have salt on them and the honey part is completely missing.

Assuming this is just another cheapened beyond recognition product that corporate America loves to pass offI at a higher price. They also often lessen the amount per item to fool consumers. I will never buy these again. Hopefully they will bring the quality down enough to put them out of business.

Can’t live on a brand name alone forever especially when it no longer is anything good. …or at least we can hope.

Returning to the store which I highly recommend. They will never hear the complaint if it isn’t monetary.

We used to buy Planters Peanuts regularly and always enjoyed them. Now, it's a rare treat to find a jar that we don't have to get a refund on because so many of them are rancid. We'll just stop buying their products now.

Curious as to what causes this

Planters - Curious as to what causes this
I have purchased 3 or 4 cans of Planter's Unsalted mixed nuts and always find the same thing...the almonds are smashed. Not broken into pieces, but whole with rounded indentations that appear like something has prevented them from growing properly. The can I currently have open doesn't have very many this time and the photo included is more smashed than usual.

Bad Cocktail Peanuts

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Updated by user Dec 06, 2020

It is not resolved.

Original review Dec 06, 2020
Lately have encountered (in 16 oz. canned) some very, very hard (tooth-threatening), nasty tasting peanuts.

Info on bottom of cans "04AUG21 1947 X3"
I've been buying & eating the 16 oz. canned Cocktail Peanuts for years and never had an issue. I buy several cans at a time, so I think the problem might be localized in a single place, batch, or something similar. Regardless, the last few cans (3 or 4) have had some dangerously HARD and BAD tasting peanuts.

The info on the bottom of the most recent can I opened shows "04AUG21" and "1947 X3" and it is even worse than the ones before it with more than a dozen pieces of dentally dangerous, tooth-threateningly VERY hard peanuts in the first 1" layer. And, they have a nasty taste.

Color ranged from normal to very dark caramel. Trying to sort through the peanuts before committing to bite into them takes away any joy of eating Planters Cocktail peanuts.
I tried call Planters 877-677-**** & 800-543-**** numbers, but "office/department closed".

I am a big fan of planters cocktail peanuts and I think I just ate or tempted to eat my last one. It was the most disturbing and nastiest taste ever, this taste went straight to my brain. I was taking out the can and putting them in my mouth. I wasn't looking at the nuts when I was watching tv. I spent almost 30 years plus as an Infantry man (grunt) in the USMC. I have tried pretty much anything over the years.

Worst jar or peanut butter

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Planters was always of a higher quality than others...I purchased 4 jars -1 kg of crunchy - this was on sale. I had tried a jar previously at regular price and was extremely pleased with the product --- well......not only were there very few peanuts in the sale jars but product was extremely runny.

I had to pout it in the fridge to harden up .....why do you send substandard product for sales?

Moving forward for the sale product please advertise as such -- you can use this example..."Planters Crunchy peanut butter on sale - it's a great price but beware this is a substandard product and not to our usual specifications" then the public would be aware of what they were buying.....I have also purchased Jif and have never had any issues with their product -- whether regular price or on sale - always high quality === the same cannot be said for your product.

I will not be purchasing your product any longer. Good luck with your substandard peanut butter...Lee
